5th Takamatsu International Piano Competition

The long-awaited 5th Takamatsu International Piano Competition is finally here. I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of Kagawa Prefecture as well as Takamatsu. Some difficulties due to changes in the social situation forced us to postpone the competition for almost a year, but we are relieved that the competition will be held as planned. For the preliminary screening in Japan, 245 applicants from all over the world were heard by four jury members. I was very impressed by the enthusiasm and dedication of the pianists.

I am fascinated by the beauty of the Seto Inland Sea and its islands, which are known all over the world.　I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the people of Kagawa and Takamatsu for their cooperation and support in organizing this competition, which will give us the pleasure of producing pianists who will go on to play all over the world. I am looking forward to meeting you all next March.
