The competition consists of Preliminary Rounds (Round 1-3) and a Final. Judging will be based on the contestants’ performances of their selection from the set pieces.
Contestants play the following pieces in the order of (A), (B), and (C). The performance time shall be between 20 minutes and 25 minutes in total. The repetition shall be at one's discretion.
(A) J. S. BACH: one piece from "The Well-Tempered Clavier",vol. I or vol. II
(B) F. CHOPIN: one piece from either Etude Op. 10 or Op. 25
*Contestants may play the same piece that they performed during the Initial Selections.
(C) Piece(s) composed after 1900
*Contestants may NOT play the same piece that they performed during the Initial Selections.
Contestants will be required to play the following pieces in the order of (A) and (B). The performance time shall be no more than 45 minutes in total.
(A) HAYDN, MOZART, or BEETHOVEN: all the movements of a sonata
(B) Piece(s) of your choice by SCHUMANN, BRAHMS, SCHUBERT, MENDELSSOHN, CHOPIN, or LISZT
*You may choose pieces by multiple composers.
*In the case of a sonata, you must play all of its movements.
Contestants play the following pieces in the order of (A), (B), and (C).
W. A. MOZART: one variation of your choice from the list below. The repetition shall be at one's discretion.
A piece commissioned for this competition (about 5 minutes in length)

Contestants will select one of the piano quartets listed below and play with the string players specified by the Office. Use the scores of Henle edition for SCHUMANN and BRAHMS and the score of International Music edition for FAURE. The repetition will be played.

Finalists will be required to perform in the Finalists' Concert at the Award Ceremony venue. However, there will be no performance fee paid.
