The 4th Takamatsu International Piano Competition will begin on March 14, 2018. The previous competitions welcomed many participants from around the world and, with the aid of a superb Jury, have produced outstanding pianists. The winner of the first competition was Pavel Gintov from Ukraine, the winner of the second competition was Alexander Yakovlev from Russia, and the winner of the third competition, who was also the first winner from Asia, was Ji-Yeong Mun from Korea.
All the prize winners, including the above, have continued to win awards in subsequent international competitions. A good example is Ji-Yeong Mun, winner of the most recent Takamatsu International Piano Competition which helped launch her international career. She went on to win first prize in the piano category of the 2014 Geneva International Music Competition and the 60th Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in 2015.
For the fourth competition, new members have been added to the Jury, the amount of cash awarded for first place has been raised, and the number of concert engagements for the winner has been increased. We encourage the world’s young pianists to participate in the 4th Takamatsu International Piano Competition and warmly welcome everyone to immerse themselves in the beautiful music while enjoying the spectacular venue overlooking the Seto Inland Sea.
