The judging for the Initial Selections will be carried out using DVDs (in DVD-video format) and materials submitted by the applicants. This round will determine the applicants who go through to compete in the Preliminary Rounds.
‘DVD-video format’ is a standard established by DVD Forum. It denotes a recording medium that can be played on a standard DVD player.
1. How to Apply
Please fill in the necessary parts of the official application form (which can also be downloaded from the competition website [ Excel / PDF ] ) and send the following items (a-c) by registered mail to the competition office. Applications sent by courier or delivered by hand will not be accepted.
All costs incurred in applying for the Initial Selections are to be paid in full by the applicants.
2. Application Period and Deadline
Monday 1st April – Friday 20th September 2013
(Postmark Friday 20th September is acceptable)
Candidates applying from overseas should make a note of all their postal information and send a fax to the TIPC office (+81-87-812-5584) in advance, giving the applicant’s name, address, and the date that the items were sent.
3. Notification of Initial Selection Results
The results of the Initial Selections will be sent to all applicants individually by Monday 16th December 2013.
Applicants who are successful in the Initial Selections will be sent information about the competition and a Consent Form for Competition Entry.
4. Repertoire for the Initial Selections
Applicants should select two pieces, one from group (A) and one from group (B) listed below, record them onto a DVD, and send them to the Competition Office.
(A) Chopin: one piece from either Etude Op. 10 or Op. 25
(B) Liszt, Skriabin, Rakhmaninov, Debussy, Stravinsky or Prokofiev: one piece
