Notes

1. Visa

If you (contestants) require a visa to enter Japan, you must apply for it in person.
If you require a letter of invitation to obtain a visa, please contact the Competition Office.
If you require a letter of invitation, you will need to provide your local Japanese diplomatic mission (embassy or consulate) with the following details.

  • Full name (Surname, Names written in your native language)
  • Sex, Date of Birth, Nationality, Occupation, Address, Telephone number
  • Travelling funds (airfare, living expenses during your stay in Japan including food and lodging)
  • Details of the individual who will bear your expenses during your stay (Name, Sex, Occupation, Relationship, Address, Contact Details)

2. Insurance

Contestants may wish to take out health insurance to cover injury or illness and insure their luggage and personal belongings against accidents, fire, theft, damage or loss during the period that they are in Japan or outside their own country. This is the contestant’s responsibility.

3. Copyright and Neighbouring rights

All the broadcasting, performance, audio and visual recording, publishing and imaging rights during the competition (including the Opening Ceremony, Award Ceremony etc.) and any related events after the competition belong to the organizer, The Takamatsu International Piano Competition Committee.

4. Compliance with Japanese Law


  • The prize money received by Prize Winners will be taxed according to Japanese Law. The figures quoted here are including tax.
  • Any dispute regarding the contents of this form will be resolved using the text contained in the original Japanese application form and according to Japanese law.

5. Other

Contestants will not be permitted to give any performances during the course of the competition other than those which are specifically for the purposes of the competition. This does not apply to contestants who have been eliminated from the competition.
This rule is subject to re-evaluation, depending on certain extenuating circumstances.
